Tips
A-Level Further Mathematics (9231) sits on top of 9709 and assumes it: Further Pure 1 and 2, Further Mechanics, and Further Probability & Statistics. It is taken alongside Maths, not instead of it, and which components you sit depends on your school's entry.
Further Pure holds most of the new machinery — matrices and linear transformations, complex numbers in polar and exponential form, polar curves, hyperbolic functions, differential equations, proof by induction. This is genuinely new content, not harder versions of familiar content.
The realistic difficulty is time, not ideas. The algebra is long enough that an error in line two survives to the end, so write the method out fully and check at the halfway point.
