Vocabulary
English Meaning
cutoff frequency/ˈkʌtɒf ˈfriːkwənsi/The threshold frequency separating propagating and evanescent behaviour for a specified waveguide mode.
guide wavelengthThe distance along a waveguide over which a propagating mode's phase advances by one full cycle.
dipole/ˈdaɪpəʊl/An antenna based on two conducting arms, often about half a wavelength long in total.
Friis equationA free-space far-field link relation connecting received power to transmitted power, antenna gains and wavelength under stated matching and polarisation assumptions.
