AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism

Tips

AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism is the calculus-based electromagnetism course: charges, fields and Gauss's law; electric potential; conductors and capacitors; circuits; magnetic fields; and electromagnetic induction. It is usually taken after Mechanics and assumes that level of calculus.

Gauss's law and Ampère's law decide how this course feels. Both are really about choosing a surface or loop that makes the integral trivial — a skill you build by doing many, not by reading the law. Symmetry is the whole game.

Induction questions punish sign errors more than anything else, so fix one convention for flux direction and use it every time.

Notes cover Gauss's law through to Maxwell's equations, unit by unit, with the vector calculus written out. The library carries the released FRQs; the hardest marks in E&M go to choosing the right symmetry before integrating, so the examples start there.
