This frame covers 以免. 以免 introduces a result you want to prevent: "so as to avoid", "in order not to", or "lest". The opening clause is the action or the warning. The 以免 clause names the bad result. 以 is "so as to", and 免 is "avoid". It is mildly formal. Notices, instructions, and careful spoken advice all use it. Colleagues say it aloud when a real risk needs a clear warning. The handout gives the full form, meaning, boundary and examples.
This frame covers 以及. 以及 joins nouns, longer phrases, and clauses. It means "as well as", or a formal "and". It is more at home in writing and in talks than in casual chat, where 和 is usual. The part before 以及 is usually central. The part after it tends to sound extra, though that item can still matter. It can end a list, or it can add a whole extra clause. The handout gives the full form, meaning, boundary and examples.
This frame covers 总之. 总之 means "in short", "in a word", or "all in all". It gathers points you already made and states the bottom line. After 不管 or 无论, the reasons may vary and the conclusion still stands. It closes an argument that is already on the table. It is how you collect a long explanation into one line. The handout gives the full form, meaning, boundary and examples.
This frame covers 则. 则 is a formal "whereas". It sets two clauses side by side and marks the contrast on the second. It is close to 却, with a written tone suited to reports, essays, and talks. People, places, times, and choices can all be paired. 则 stands after the second subject and before the verb, often beside 而. The two clauses are equal partners, like two columns in a report. The handout gives the full form, meaning, boundary and examples.
