A university is not a bigger school
- Nobody checks that you attended, read the chapter, or started the assignment.
- The teaching is spread across formats that expect different things from you.
- Knowing the format before you are in it is what this unit is for.
Lecture, seminar, tutorial
- A lecture 讲座 delivers material to many students. You listen, take notes, and ask afterwards.
- A seminar 研讨课 is a small discussion where you are expected to speak. Silence is not neutral there.
- A tutorial 辅导课 is close supervision of your own work, and it assumes you brought some.
Match each teaching format to what it expects from you.

Integrity, and the grade that follows you
- Academic integrity 学术诚信 is the rule that the work you submit is yours and every borrowed idea is credited.
- Your transcript 成绩单 records modules and grades, summarised as a grade point average 平均绩点, written GPA.
- GAC issues one, and it is what a university admissions office actually reads.
What does a GAC transcript report to a university?
GAC is continuously assessed, so the record is the whole set of modules, summarised as a GPA.
Asking for help early is normal behaviour. Academic advisers, writing centres and office hours exist to be used, and using them in week two is what strong students do. Using them in week eleven is damage control.

Example: "Could I check whether the report should include the raw data, or only the summary table?" One specific question is easy to answer.

Week 2: "I do not understand what the report needs." Emails the teacher, gets a five-minute answer, writes the report over three weeks.
Week 11: "I do not understand what the report needs." Same sentence, three days left, and now the teacher can only advise on damage.
The question was identical. The week is what changed the outcome, and choosing the week is entirely within your control.
Do not assume that no news means you are fine. In a system where nobody chases you, silence from a teacher means only that they have not looked. Check your own progress against the assessment criteria, not against the absence of complaints.
