This frame covers 平时 and 平常. As adverbs, 平时 and 平常 both mean "usually" or "ordinarily". They stand before the verb, and you can normally swap them: the habit stays the same. A mild difference is sometimes felt, with 平时 closer to "at ordinary times" and 平常 closer to "as a habit", but either word is natural in speech or writing. 平常 is also an adjective meaning "ordinary" or "common". 平时 does not take that job. It does not follow 很, and 很平时的事 is not a way to say "an ordinary matter"., See the handout for full form and boundary.
This frame covers 以后 and 之后. 以后 and 之后 both mean "after". Put a time or an event before either word. A verb on its own is enough, so 吃完以后 and 吃完之后 are both normal. 以后 can also stand by itself, with no event in that sentence or the one before it. It then means "from now on" or "in the future". 之后 usually needs an event to look back to: the words just in front of it, or an event you have already mentioned. Without that, 之后 sounds unfinished, so it does not do the standalone job of 以后. 之后 is a little more common in writing. Treat this as a tendency. Writing still uses 以后 freely, and speech uses 之后 once the event is clear., See the handout for full form and boundary.
