Academic, General Training, UKVI and One Skill Retake · 学术类、培训类、UKVI 与单项重考
Availability is not acceptance
- A fictional degree offer names IELTS Academic and rejects One Skill Retake results. A nearby centre offers the retake. Its availability cannot satisfy this offer’s acceptance condition, even if the candidate’s score would rise.
- Check three questions separately: does the centre offer it, does your original test and timing qualify, and does the recipient accept the result? A booking button cannot negotiate an offer on your behalf.
A fictional Master’s offer explicitly requests IELTS Academic. Which version matches that named requirement?
Academic matches this explicit offer. A destination or degree title alone does not determine every accepted booking condition.
Select the version from the stated purpose
- Academic is used for degree-level study and professional registration; General Training covers everyday/workplace contexts and is used for some migration, training and below-degree study purposes. The named organisation or route decides which evidence is accepted.
- If a fictional offer explicitly requests Academic, General Training is not a substitute. Do not infer the complete booking requirement merely from a destination, nationality or degree title; check the course and, where relevant, the separate visa guidance.
Which parts of IELTS are exactly the same in Academic and General Training?
Listening and Speaking are identical. Reading uses different texts, and Writing Task 1 is a figure in Academic but a letter in General Training.
Shared skills do not make the whole tests interchangeable
- Listening and Speaking use the same formats across Academic and General Training. Reading contexts differ; General Training starts with everyday and workplace materials, then a longer text, while Academic uses longer general-interest academic texts. Their raw Reading conversion anchors also differ.
- Academic Task 1 describes visual information; General Training Task 1 is a letter. Both require at least 150 words. Both versions have a Task 2 essay of at least 250 words, weighted twice Task 1. Practise the required response rather than substituting the version that feels easier.
Complete: in General Training, Writing Task 1 asks you to write a ___.
General Training Task 1 is a letter of at least 150 words. Academic Task 1 describes a figure, also at least 150 words.
UKVI names an administration requirement
- IELTS for UKVI Academic/General Training has the same format, difficulty and scoring as its corresponding ordinary version, with additional security and approved-centre administration. That does not mean every session contains identical questions or that ordinary and UKVI reports are interchangeable for every purpose.
- IELTS for UKVI Life Skills tests Speaking and Listening at a specified CEFR level and reports pass/fail. It is a different test. This lesson does not determine your visa route; follow the current accepted-test requirement of the relevant authority and recipient.
IELTS for UKVI has harder questions than the ordinary IELTS test.
Corresponding UKVI and ordinary versions have the same format, difficulty and scoring, with extra UKVI security/administration. This does not assert identical questions in every session.
A retake window is measured from the full test
- One Skill Retake permits one skill, once per eligible full test. The full test must meet the provider’s computer-test and participating-centre conditions, and the retake must be sat within sixty days of that full test. Merely booking before day sixty does not meet a sitting deadline.
- In an original timing example, a planned sitting forty-five days after the full test is within that window; sixty-five days is outside it. Neither timing result establishes availability or acceptance. Read all current eligibility conditions before relying on the service.
Within how many days of your full test must you sit a One Skill Retake?
60 days, and the full test must have been IELTS on computer at a centre that offers the service. You may retake one skill, once, per full test.
Put the One Skill Retake steps in order.
The retake only exists after a full computer-delivered test, and the window is counted from that test day.
Booking on day 55 guarantees the 60-day rule is met even if the retake is sat on day 65.
The deadline concerns sitting the retake, measured from the full test.
Which planned sitting is within sixty days of the eligible full test?
45 ≤ 60; 65 > 60. The date alone does not establish acceptance or availability.
Read the report and policy before choosing a route
- A retake produces a new report combining the retaken skill with the other three original results. Check its acceptance with every intended recipient; eligibility is not a guarantee that the new result will meet a numerical threshold.
- Recap: version, mode, eligibility, acceptance and scores answer different questions. Sources checked on 2 October 2026: One Skill Retake, UKVI tests, test delivery update. All offers and timing cases here are fictional.
- A locally available service can remain unsuitable for a specific recipient. Check the exact report and accepted conditions.
Match the distinctions in this worked case.
Before paying, check the test version, delivery mode, result validity and retake policy on the receiving organisation’s current page. For a visa route, check its separate accepted-test requirements too.
A centre offers One Skill Retake, but the fictional course rejects it. Does availability satisfy the offer?
A fictional degree offer names IELTS Academic and does not accept One Skill Retake. Even if a local centre offers that retake, it would not satisfy this particular offer. Before paying, check the test version, delivery mode, result validity and retake policy on the receiving organisation’s current page. For a visa route, check its separate accepted-test requirements too.
