Happening right now
- Use the present continuous for actions happening at this moment.
- Look! It's raining. The kids are playing outside.
- This is "now", not "every day".
I am cleaning my room now. The dust is making other plans.

- 现在进行时 (present continuous) 表示此刻正在做的动作。
- 看Look （天气it）! It 正在is 下雨raining.(看!正在下雨。)
- 强调"现在",不是"每天"。
我现在正在打扫房间。灰尘却有别的打算。
The form: be + -ing
- am / is / are + verb**-ing**.
- I am reading. She is cooking. They are playing.
- The be verb is essential — never drop it.

Now vs always
- Present simple = a habit: I read every night.
- Present continuous = right now: I am reading now.
- Signal words now, at the moment, today point to the continuous.
"现在" vs "总是"
- 一般现在时 = 习惯:我I 读read 每every 晚上night.(我每晚读书。)
- 现在进行时 = 此刻:我I 正在am 读reading 现在now.(我现在在读书。)
- 看到 now、at the moment、today,多用进行时。
“I am reading now.” — Is the present continuous correct here? · “I am reading now.” —— 这里用现在进行时对吗?
“now” signals an action happening at this moment → present continuous. · now 表示此刻正在发生 → 用现在进行时,正确。
Translate into English: 他们正在踢足球。 · 翻译成英语:他们正在踢足球。
Happening now → are + playing: “They are playing football.” · 此刻正在发生 → are + playing:They are playing football。
Common mistakes
- ❌ They are play football. → ✓ They are playing football. — be and -ing go together.
- ❌ She is cooking every day. → ✓ She cooks every day. — habits use the present simple.
- ❌ He is writeing. → ✓ He is writing. — drop the e, then add -ing.
