Three movements, one sentence
- Latino, American Indian, and Asian American movements continued to demand social and economic equality and a redress of past injustices.
- Continued to demand — the CED says these were ongoing, not new, which changes how they are explained.
- Two demands: social and economic equality and a redress of past injustices, and the second is retrospective.
Select all · 所有 three movements named in the first sentence.
'Continued to demand' — ongoing, not new.
Feminist and LGBTQ+ mobilisation
- Feminist and LGBTQ+ activists mobilised behind claims for legal, economic, and social equality.
- Three kinds of equality claimed: legal, economic, and social — different institutions answer each.
- Mobilised behind claims describes organised movements with stated demands, which is the same form 8.10 described.
Select both · 两者 demands the CED gives those movements.
The second is retrospective. ·
The counterculture connection
- Feminists who participated in the counterculture of the 1960s rejected many of the social, economic, and political values of their parents' generation and advocated changes in sexual norms.
- The CED links a rights movement to a cultural one, and 8.12 gives the same sentence for young people generally.
- So the rights claims and the cultural rejection overlap in people as well as in period.
Which movement or claim? ·
Sort each element of 1960s-1970s activism. ·
Select all · 所有 three kinds of equality feminist and LGBTQ+ activists claimed.
Different institutions answer each.
"Continued to demand" says these movements were ongoing, not new. 4.11's women's rights movement and 6.11's women's organisations are earlier stages — so the accurate claim is that the 1960s made them more visible and more organised, not that they began then.
'Continued' means a claim that these movements began in the 1960s is...
The 1960s made them more visible and organised. · 1960
Why 'continued' matters
- 4.11's women's rights movement, 6.11's women joining organisations, and 7.4's Progressive women are earlier stages.
- So a claim that these movements began in the 1960s contradicts the CED's own continued.
- The 1960s is where they became more visible and more organised, which is a different and more accurate claim.
The CED links feminists to the counterculture in the same sentence. · CED
8.12 gives the same sentence for young people generally. · 8.12
Various groups responding
- The objective, shared with 8.10, is how and why various groups responded to calls for the expansion of civil rights from 1960 to 1980.
- 8.10 covers the African American movement and the federal response; 8.11 covers the movements that followed and paralleled it.
- Various requires naming several, and the CED names five distinct movements across the two subtopics.
A demand that has been made for a century and is finally reported is not a new demand; it is a newly heard one. Confusing the two makes the earlier generations disappear from the account.
