Vocabulary
English Meaning
DTFTThe discrete-time Fourier transform, representing a sequence by a continuous frequency function periodic in angular frequency with period two pi.
DFTThe discrete Fourier transform mapping N sequence values to N complex frequency coefficients.
resolution/ˌrezəˈluːʃn/The smallest distinguishable change; in an ADC this concerns quantisation steps, while in spectrum analysis it concerns separating frequency components.
leakageSpectral spreading caused by observing a signal through a finite window, particularly when a tone does not align with DFT bins.
Hamming windowA tapered cosine window reducing spectral sidelobes at the cost of a wider main lobe than a rectangular window.
interpolatesinterpolates
