- unexpectedly居然 means the same and is common in speech: he他unexpectedly居然not / haven't没to come来！
- sure enough果然 is the opposite: "just as expected": weather forecast天气预报said说rain下雨，sure enough果然rain下雨(completed / change)了.

The forecast said it would snow, and it did. Which word fits? 天气预报说下雪，____下雪了。

果然 means “just as expected”: the forecast said snow, and it did snow. 竟然 and 居然 mark surprise, and 突然 means “suddenly”.
