  • 1 Present perfect vs past simple · ⁨현재완료와 과거-simple⁩
    1.1

    확실한 과거 vs 현재와의 연관성

    English

Both tenses refer to the past, but they differ based on whether a specific time is mentioned and whether there is a connection to the present:

    • Past Simple: The action ended at a definite time in the past and has no relevance to the present.
    • Present Perfect: No specific time is mentioned; it emphasizes the impact on or experience related to the present.

    我I 看saw 他him 昨天yesterday.

I saw him yesterday. (Definite time → Past Simple)

    我I (完成时)have 看seen 那部that 电影film.

I have seen that movie. (Experience, no specific time mentioned → Present Perfect)

Note: Once definite past time markers such as yesterday, last week, in 2019, or ago appear, use the Past Simple, not the Present Perfect.

    한국어
    일반 과거시제 vs 현재완료시제

두 시제 모두 과거를 말하지만, 구체적인 시간 명시 여부, 현재와의 연관성 여부에서 차이가 있습니다:

    • 일반 과거시제 (past simple): 행동이 확실한 과거 시간에 끝나며, 현재와는 관련이 없습니다。
    • 현재완료시제 (present perfect): 구체적인 시간을 명시하지 않고, 현재에 미치는 영향이나 경험을 강조합니다。

    我I 看saw 他him 昨天yesterday.

어제 그 사람을 봤습니다. (확정된 시간 → 일반 과거형)

    我I (完成时)have 看seen 那部that 电影film.

    그 영화를 본 적이 있습니다. (경험,いつ言わず → 현재완료형)

주의 yesterday, last week, in 2019, ago 등 확정된 과거 시간부사가 나타날 때는 일반과거时使用하며, 현재완료시에는 사용하지 않습니다.

    1.2

    표지어

    English

Pay attention to these words to help you determine which tense to use:

    • Past Simple: yesterday, last night, ... ago, in 2019, then, when.
    • Present Perfect: just, already, yet, ever, never, so far, recently, since, for.

    她She (完成时)has 刚刚just 到达arrived.

She has just arrived. (just → Present Perfect)

    他们They 离开left 一an 小时hour 前ago.

They left an hour ago. (ago → Past Simple)

Note: Do not mix them within the same sentence: ~~I have seen him yesterday~~ ✗ → I saw him yesterday ✓.

    한국어

이런 단어를 확인하면 어떤 시제를 써야 할지 판단하는 데 도움이 됩니다:

    • 일반과거时使用: yesterday, last night, … ago, in 2019, then, when 등
    • 현재완료时: just, already, yet, ever, never, so far, recently, since, for 등

    她She (完成时)has 刚刚just 到达arrived.

    그녀는 방금 도착했다.(just → 현재완료时)

    他们They 离开left 一an 小时hour 前ago.

    그들은 한 시간 전에 떠났다.(ago → 일반과거时使用)

주의 같은 문장에서 두 시제를 섞어서는 안 됩니다: ~~I have seen him yesterday~~ ✗ → I saw him yesterday ✓

    1.3

    been과 gone의 차이

    English

Both are forms related to go, but they have different meanings:

    • Have been to: Have visited (and returned) — indicates experience.
    • Have gone to: Have gone (and are still there / on the way).

    他He (完成时)has 去过been (介词)to 日本Japan.

He has been to Japan. (Visited, and has returned now)

    她She (完成时)has 去了gone (介词)to (冠词)the 银行bank.

She has gone to the bank. (Not here now, still over there)

Note: Use been to for "have visited somewhere"; use gone to for "have gone and haven't returned yet".

    Common Errors

    • ❌ ~~When have you arrived?~~ → ✓ When did you arrive? — When asks for a specific past time, so the Past Simple must be used.
    • ❌ ~~I have finished it just now.~~ → ✓ I finished it just now. / I have just finished it. — Just now (a moment ago) pairs with the Past Tense; just (very recently) pairs with the Present Perfect.
    • ❌ ~~I lost my keys — can you help me look?~~ → ✓ I have lost my keys… — The keys have not been found yet, and the effect continues into the present, so the Present Perfect is more accurate.
    • ❌ ~~This is the first time I go there.~~ → ✓ This is the first time I have been there. — The pattern "the first time / the best time" is fixed with the Present Perfect: the first time / the best film I have ever seen.
    한국어

두 단어 모두 go의 관련 형태이지만 뜻이 다릅니다:

    • have been to: 갔다가 돌아온 경험 (experience)을 나타냅니다.
    • have gone to: 갔지만 아직在那里或在路上(还在那里 / 在路上)。

    他He (完成时)has 去过been (介词)to 日本Japan.

일본에 간 적이 있습니다. (방문했고, 지금은 돌아옴)

    她She (完成时)has 去了gone (介词)to (冠词)the 银行bank.

    은행에 갔습니다. (지금 거기에 있음)

주의 "어디에 갔다가 돌아옴"은 been to; "갔는데 아직 돌아오지 않음"은 gone to를 사용합니다.

    자주 하는 실수

    • ❌ ~~When have you arrived?~~ → ✓ When did you arrive? — when은 구체적인 과거 시간을 묻으므로 반드시 일반과거时使用를 써야 합니다.
    • ❌ ~~I have finished it just now.~~ → ✓ I finished it just now. / I have just finished it. — just now(방금)는 과거时使用와; just(방금/아직)는 현재완료时와 짝을 이룹니다.
    • ❌ ~~I lost my keys — can you help me look?~~ → ✓ I have lost my keys… — 열쇠를 찾지 못해 현재까지 영향을 미치고 있으므로 현재완료시가 더 정확합니다.
    • ❌ ~~This is the first time I go there.~~ → ✓ This is the first time I have been there. — '첫 번 / 가장 좋은' 구문은 고정적으로 현재완료时使用를 쓰며: the first time / the best film I have ever seen 등입니다.
  • 2 Present perfect continuous · ⁨현재완료-진행형⁩
    2.1

    구조 (have been + V-ing)

    English

The Present Perfect Continuous emphasizes an action that started in the past and continues up to the present, and often implies it is still ongoing.

    Structure: 主语 + have / has + been + 动词-ing

    我I (完成时)have (进行)been 等待waiting (持续)for 一an 小时hour.

I have been waiting for an hour. (May still be waiting)

    (天气it)It (完成时)has (进行)been 下雨raining 整all 天day.

It has been raining all day.

    Note: Negative form: haven't / hasn't been + V-ing. Question form: Have / Has + subject + been + V-ing?

    한국어
    현재완료진행형: 현재까지 지속됨

현재완료진행시(present perfect continuous)는 한 행위가 과거부터 현재까지 지속되고 있음을 강조하며, 종종 현재도 진행 중임을 나타냅니다.

    구조: 主语 + have / has + been + 动词-ing

    我I (完成时)have (进行)been 等待waiting (持续)for 一an 小时hour.

한 시간 동안 기다렸습니다. (아직도 기다릴 수도 있음)

    (天气it)It (完成时)has (进行)been 下雨raining 整all 天day.

    하루 종일 비가 왔습니다.

    주의 부정형: haven't / hasn't been + V-ing. 의문형: Have / Has + 주어 + been + V-ing?

    2.2

    현재까지 지속됨

    English

This tense focuses on the ongoing process and duration, and is frequently used with for and since:

    • For + duration: for two hours.
    • Since + starting point: since this morning.

她She (完成时)has (进行)been 学习studying 自从since 九点nine.

She has been studying since nine o'clock.

    Difference from Present Perfect:

    • Present Perfect Continuous: Emphasizes the process / duration (I have been reading —一直在读).
    • Present Perfect: Emphasizes the result / completion (I have read it — 读完了).

Note: Stative verbs (know, like, be) generally do not use the continuous form: ~~I have been knowing~~ ✗ → I have known ✓.

    Common Errors

    • ❌ ~~I am waiting for an hour.~~ → ✓ I have been waiting for an hour. — To express "waiting for an hour and still waiting," the Present Perfect Continuous must be used; the Present Continuous cannot indicate how long something has already lasted.
    • ❌ ~~How long are you living here?~~ → ✓ How long have you been living here? — How long asks about duration, so it pairs with the Perfect (Continuous) tense.
    • ❌ ~~She has been finished her essay.~~ → ✓ She has finished her essay. — For active voice, simply use has/have + past participle (has finished); do not add been. Been is used in the continuous form (has been studying) or passive voice (Her essay has been finished, without an object), but never in an active perfect tense with an object.
    • ❌ ~~I have been reading three books this week.~~ → ✓ I have read three books this week. — To report a "completed quantity," use the Present Perfect; the continuous form only emphasizes the process, not the result.
    한국어

이 시제는 지속되는 과정과 시간의 양에 초점을 맞추며, 주로 for 및 since와 함께 사용됩니다:

    • for + 일정 기간: for two hours
    • since + 시작점: since this morning

她She (完成时)has (进行)been 学习studying 自从since 九点nine.

    아침 아홉시부터ずっと 공부했습니다.

    현재완료형과의 차이:

    • 현재완료진행시: 과정 / 기간을 강조(I have been reading — 계속 읽고 있음)
    • 현재완료时: 결과 / 완료를 강조(I have read it — 읽었음)

    주의 상태동사(known, liked, been 등)는 일반적으로 진행형을 사용하지 않습니다: ~~I have been knowing~~ ✗ → I have known ✓

    자주 하는 실수

    • ❌ ~~I am waiting for an hour.~~ → ✓ I have been waiting for an hour. — '한 시간 동안 기다렸고, 지금도 기다림'은 현재완료진행시를 써야 하며, 현재진행시는 '얼마나 지속되었는지'를 포함할 수 없습니다.
    • ❌ ~~How long are you living here?~~ → ✓ How long have you been living here? — how long은 기간을 묻으므로 현재완료(진행)시와 짝을 이룹니다.
    • ❌ ~~She has been finished her essay.~~ → ✓ She has finished her essay. — 수동태는 active voice에서直接用has/have +过去分词(has finished),不要多加been。been只用于进行时有宾语主动完成时中。
    • ❌ ~~I have been reading three books this week.~~ → ✓ I have read three books this week. — '완성된 수량'을 보고 싶다면 현재완료时使用를 쓰고, 진행형은 과정만 강조하고 결과를 언급하지 않습니다.
  • 3 Past perfect · ⁨과거 완료법⁩
    3.1

    구조 (had + 过去分词)

    English

The Past Perfect expresses the "past of the past" — an action that was completed before a specific point in the past.

Structure: 主语 + had + 过去分词(same for all persons)

当...时When 我I 到达arrived (冠词), the 火车train (过去完成)had 离开left.

By the time I arrived, the train had already left. (Left first, then arrived)

她She (过去完成)had 完成finished 她的her 工作work 在...之前before 午饭lunch.

She had finished her work before lunch.

    Note Contraction: I'd, she'd, they'd (= had).

    한국어
    과거완료형: 과거의 과거

과거완료时(past perfect)는 '과거의 과거'를 의미하며, 특정 과거 시점 이전에 이미 완료된 행동을 나타냅니다.

구조: 主语 + had + 过去分词(모든 인칭 동일)

当...时When 我I 到达arrived (冠词), the 火车train (过去完成)had 离开left.

도착했을 때 기차는 이미 떠났습니다. (먼저 떠남, 나중에 도착함)

她She (过去完成)had 完成finished 她的her 工作work 在...之前before 午饭lunch.

    점심을 먹기 전에 일을 끝냈습니다.

    주의 약어: I'd, she'd, they'd(= had)

    3.2

    두 개의 과거 동작 중 더 먼저 일어난 것

    English

The past perfect tense is used along with the simple past tense to indicate which of two past events happened first or second:

    • The earlier event → Past Perfect Tense (had done).
    • The later event → Simple Past Tense (did).

(冠词)The 电影film (过去完成)had 开始started 当...时when 我们we 到达got 那里there.

We got there, and the movie had already started.

Timeline Comparison: had started (earlier) → got there (later).

Note The past perfect is only used when it is necessary to emphasize the sequence; for straightforward chronological narration, the simple past can be used for both actions.

    Common Errors

    • ❌ ~~After he had left, I had cleaned the room.~~ → ✓ After he had left, I cleaned the room. — Only the action that happened earlier takes the past perfect, not both.
    • ❌ ~~When I had arrived, the train left.~~ → ✓ When I arrived, the train had left. — Whichever happened first uses had done; reversing them reverses the timeline.
    • ❌ ~~I had seen this film.~~ (standalone sentence) → ✓ I have seen this film. — The past perfect requires a "past reference point"; without one, use the present perfect or simple past.
    • Remember strong signal words: by the time + simple past, the main clause usually takes the past perfect: By the time we arrived, the film had started.
    한국어

과거완료형은 일반 과거형과 함께 사용하여 과거의 두 사건 중 누가 먼저 있었는지 보여줍니다:

    • 더 일찍 발생한 행동 → 과거완료时(had done)
    • 나중에 발생한 행동 → 일반과거时使用(did)

(冠词)The 电影film (过去完成)had 开始started 当...时when 我们we 到达got 那里there.

    도착했을 때 영화는 이미 시작되었습니다.

시간선 비교: had started(더 일찍) → got there(더 늦게)

주의 우선순위를 강조할 때만 과거완료형을 씁니다. 단순히 순서대로 나열하는 서술에는 일반 과거형을 모두 쓸 수 있습니다.

    자주 하는 실수

    • ❌ ~~After he had left, I had cleaned the room.~~ → ✓ After he had left, I cleaned the room. — 더 일찍 발생한 행동에만 과거완료时使用를 쓰고, 두 행동 모두에 쓰는 것은 아닙니다.
    • ❌ ~~When I had arrived, the train left.~~ → ✓ When I arrived, the train had left. — 누가 먼저 발생했는지에 따라 had done을 사용하며, 순서를 반대로 표시하면 시간이 뒤바뀝니다.
    • ❌ ~~I had seen this film.~~(단독 문장)→ ✓ I have seen this film. — 과거완료时必须有一个"과거参照点";没有参照,就用现在完成时或一般过去时。
    • 강력한 신호를 기억하세요:by the time + 일반과거时使用일 때, 주절에는 보통 과거완료时使用를 씁니다: By the time we arrived, the film had started.
  • 4 used to
    4.1

    과거의 습관과 상태

    English

used to indicates habits that were done frequently in the past but are no longer done now, or past states.

Structure: 主语 + used to + 动词原形

    我I 过去常used to 踢play 足球football.

I used to play football. (I don't anymore now)

(有)There 过去used to 有be 一家a 电影院cinema 这里here.

There used to be a cinema here.

Note used to refers only to the past; for current habits, use the simple present (I play football now).

    한국어
    used to:过去的习惯

    used to는 과거에 자주 하거나状态的,但现在不再做的习惯,或过去的状态。

구조: 主语 + used to + 动词原形

    我I 过去常used to 踢play 足球football.

전에는 축구공을 자주 차았습니다. (지금은 안 함)

(有)There 过去used to 有be 一家a 电影院cinema 这里here.

    여기에는 예전에 극장이 있었습니다.

주의 used to는 과거만을 설명하며, 현재의 습관은 일반현재时使用(如:I play football now)를 사용합니다.

    4.2

    부정 및 의문형

    English

For negation and questions, auxiliary did is required, and used reverts to use:

    • Negation: didn't use to + base verb.
    • Question: Did + subject + use to + base verb ?

我I (否定)didn't 过去use to 喜欢like 咖啡coffee.

I didn't use to like coffee.

(助动词)Did 你you 过去use to 住live 这里here?

Did you use to live here?

Note In negatives / questions it is use to (without d): ~~didn't used to~~ ✗ → didn't use to ✓.

    Common Errors

    • ❌ ~~I am used to play football.~~ → Do not mix up these two distinct structures: ✓ I used to play football. (Used to do, but don't now) vs ✓ I am used to playing football. (Accustomed to doing)— Here, to is a preposition followed by -ing; also note get used to (gradually becoming accustomed).
    • ❌ ~~I use to get up early.~~ (meaning current habit) → ✓ I usually get up early. — use to has no present tense form; use usually for current habits.
    • ❌ ~~She used to living in Shanghai.~~ → ✓ She used to live in Shanghai. — used to is followed by the base verb.
    한국어

    부정문과 의문문은 did를 보조动词,并把 used变回use:

    • 부정문: didn't use to + 动词原形
    • 의문문: Did + 주어 + use to + 动词原形 ?

我I (否定)didn't 过去use to 喜欢like 咖啡coffee.

    전에는 커피가 싫었습니다.

(助动词)Did 你you 过去use to 住live 这里here?

    여기에 살았었나요?

    주의 부정문/의문문에서는 use to(d가 없음): ~~didn't used to~~ ✗ → didn't use to ✓

    자주 하는 실수

    • ❌ ~~I am used to play football.~~ → 두 다른 표현을 섞어서는 안 됩니다: ✓ I used to play football.(과거에 자주踢了,现在不踢) vs ✓ I am used to playing football.(习惯于踢)— 후자의 to는 전치사이接-ing;还有get used to逐渐习惯。
    • ❌ ~~I use to get up early.~~(현재의 습관을 말하고 싶을 때)→ ✓ I usually get up early. — use to에는 현재시제가 없으며, 현재의 습관은 usually를 사용합니다.
    • ❌ ~~She used to living in Shanghai.~~ → ✓ She used to live in Shanghai. — used to 뒤에动词原形来跟。

    will vs be going to

    English

When talking about the future, will and be going to each have specific focuses:

    • will: spontaneous decisions, predictions, promises.
    • be going to: existing plans, predictions based on evidence.

我I 觉得think (天气it)it 会will (是)be 冷cold.

I think it's going to be cold. (Prediction → will)

我们We (be)are 打算going to 搬move 家house.

We are going to move house. (Plan → be going to)

Note Spontaneous decisions made at the moment always take will: The bag is heavy — I'll carry it.

    한국어
    将来形式:will / going to / 进行时

    미래에 대해谈论时,will和be going to各有侧重:

    • will:即兴决定、预测、承诺。
    • be going to:已有计划、有依据的预测。

我I 觉得think (天气it)it 会will (是)be 冷cold.

    我觉得会冷。(预测 → will)

我们We (be)are 打算going to 搬move 家house.

    我们打算搬家。(计划 → be going to)

주의即兴临时决定一定用will: The bag is heavy — I'll carry it.

    5.2

    현재진행형의 계획 활용

    English

The present continuous can express future arrangements that have already been booked/confirmed (often with specific times or locations):

我I (be)am 见meeting (冠词)the 医生doctor 在at 三点three.

I'm seeing the doctor at three o'clock. (Appointment confirmed)

Note be going to emphasizes "intention," while the present continuous emphasizes "already arranged." They are often interchangeable.

    한국어

현재진행형은 미리 정해진 미래의 일(구체적인 시간/장소 포함)을 나타낼 수 있습니다:

我I (be)am 见meeting (冠词)the 医生doctor 在at 三点three.

오후 세 시에 의사를 뵙습니다. (미리 약속함)

주의 be going to는 "의도"를 강조하고, 현재 진행형은 "이미 계획된 상태"를 강조하며, 두 표현은 자주互换할 수 있습니다.

    5.3

    시간부사절

    English

In time clauses introduced by when, as soon as, before, after, until, even when referring to the future, use the simple present tense:

我I 会will 打电话call 你you 当...时when 我I 到达arrive.

I'll call you as soon as I arrive.

等Wait 这里here 直到until (冠词)the 雨rain 停stops.

Wait here until the rain stops.

Note Do not use will in time clauses: ~~when I will arrive~~ ✗ → when I arrive ✓.

    Common Errors

    • ❌ ~~I will meeting him tomorrow.~~ → ✓ I will meet him. / I am meeting him. — will + base verb, be + -ing; these two structures cannot be combined.
    • ❌ ~~What will you do tonight?~~ (asking about someone else's arrangement) → ✓ What are you doing tonight? — For asking about established arrangements, the present continuous sounds more natural.
    • ❌ ~~I'll go to the dentist tomorrow — I booked it last week.~~ → ✓ I am going to the dentist tomorrow. — For things already scheduled, do not use the spontaneous decision marker will.
    • Use Shall for suggestions in questions: Shall we go? (Shall we go?) Shall I open the window? (Shall I open the window?)
    한국어

when, as soon as, before, after, until으로 이끄는 시간 부사절에서는 미래에 대해 말하더라도 일부사사를 사용합니다:

我I 会will 打电话call 你you 当...时when 我I 到达arrive.

    도착하자마자 전화할게요.

等Wait 这里here 直到until (冠词)the 雨rain 停stops.

    비가 그칠 때까지 여기서 기다리세요.

    주의 시간 부사절에서 will을 사용하지 않습니다:~~when I will arrive~~ ✗ → when I arrive ✓.

    자주 하는 실수

    • ❌ ~~I will meeting him tomorrow.~~ → ✓ I will meet him. / I am meeting him. — will + 원형, be + -ing, 두 구조는 섞어서 사용할 수 없습니다.
    • ❌ ~~What will you do tonight?~~(상대방의 계획을 묻는 경우)→ ✓ What are you doing tonight? — 이미 정해진 일인지 묻을 때는 현재 진행형을 쓰는 것이 더 자연스럽습니다.
    • ❌ ~~I'll go to the dentist tomorrow — I booked it last week.~~ → ✓ I am going to the dentist tomorrow. — 미리 예약한 일은 '즉시 결정'하는 will을 쓰지 않습니다.
    • 제안을 묻는 문장에는 Shall을 사용합니다:Shall we go?(우리가 갈까요?)Shall I open the window?(창문을 여야 할까요?)

    Second Conditional

    English

The Second Conditional describes hypothetical situations regarding the present or future that are unreal or unlikely:

Structure: If + 一般过去时, would + 动词原形

如果If 我I 有had (冠词)a 很多lot (的)of 钱money 我, I 会would 旅行travel.

If I had a lot of money, I would travel. (But I don't actually)

Note In the Second Conditional, the verb be is typically standardized as were: If I were you, I would rest. (If I were you, I would rest.)

    6.3

    unless

    English

unless means "except if / if ... not", equivalent to if … not:

你You 会will (是)be 迟到late 除非unless 你you 快点hurry.

You'll be late unless you hurry. (= if you don't hurry)

Note unless already contains a negative meaning, so do not add not afterwards: ~~unless you don't hurry~~ ✗.

    Common Errors

    • ❌ ~~If I would be rich, I would travel.~~ → ✓ If I were rich, I would travel. — would appears only in the main clause; use the past tense in the if-clause.
    • ❌ ~~If it rains, we would stay home.~~ → ✓ If it rains, we will stay home. / If it rained, we would stay home. — Do not mix First and Second Conditionals; the entire sentence must follow one pattern.
    • ❌ ~~If I was you, I would rest.~~ → While heard in spoken English, use ✓ If I were you for exams and writing.
    • Comma Rule: If the if-clause comes before, add a comma (If it rains**,** we stay in.); if it comes after, no comma is needed (We stay in if it rains.).

unless means "except if / if ... not", equivalent to if … not:

  • 7 The passive · ⁨수동태⁩
    7.1

    일반現在/과거형의 수동태

    English

The passive voice places the receiver of the action in the subject position, emphasizing "what happened to" rather than who performed the action.

Structure: 主语 + be + 过去分词(the tense of be determines the sentence's tense)

    • Present Simple Passive: am / is / are + past participle.
    • Past Simple Passive: was / were + past participle.

    英语English (被动)is 说spoken 这里here.

    English is spoken here.

    (冠词)The 窗户window (被动)was 打破broken.

    The window was broken.

Note Active to Passive: The object moves to the subject position, and the verb changes to be + past participle. They built it. → It was built.

    한국어
    능동 → 수동

수동태 (the passive)는 동작의 대상을 주어로 하여 "어떻게 당했는가"를 강조하고, 누가 했는지는 중요하지 않습니다.

구조: 主语 + be + 过去分词(be의 시제가 문장의 시제를 결정)

    • 일반현재 수동태: am / is / are + 과거분사.
    • 일반과거 수동태: was / were + 과거분사.

    英语English (被动)is 说spoken 这里here.

여기는 영어가 쓰입니다. (또는 '여기는 영어를 쓴다') 窗户被打破了。

    (冠词)The 窗户window (被动)was 打破broken.

    창문이 깨졌습니다.

주의 능동태에서 수동태로 바꾸기: 목적어가 주어로 이동하고, 동사가 be + 과거분사로 바뀝니다.They built it. → It was built.

    7.2

    by +動作执行者

    English

To specify "by whom" the action was done, use by + agent:

这This 书book (被动)was 写written 被by 鲁迅Lu Xun.

This book was written by Lu Xun.

    When to use the passive?

    • When the doer is unknown or unimportant: The road was repaired.
    • To emphasize the receiver: The painting was bought by a museum.

Note If the agent is unimportant, by … is often omitted: The shop is closed.

    Common Errors

    • ❌ ~~The window was broke. / The book was wrote by him.~~ → ✓ was broken / was written — Use the past participle for the passive, not the past simple; memorize the third column of irregular verbs.
    • ❌ ~~It was happened last night.~~ → ✓ It happened last night. — Intransitive verbs like happen, appear, and die do not have a passive form.
    • ❌ ~~My phone was stolen by someone.~~ → ✓ My phone was stolen. — by someone / by people is redundant; delete it directly.
    • Chinese says "I was born in…" using an active structure, but English always uses the passive: ✓ I was born in Chengdu.
    한국어

    "누구에 의해"做了动作来说明时,使用 by + 动作执行者:

这This 书book (被动)was 写written 被by 鲁迅Lu Xun.

    이 책은 루쉰이 썼습니다.

    수동태를 사용할 때:

    • 不知道或不重要是谁做的:The road was repaired.(道路被修缮了。)
    • 想强调承受者:The painting was bought by a museum.(这幅画被一家博物馆买走了。)*

    注意 如果执行者不重要,常常省略 by …:The shop is closed.(商店关门了。)*

    자주 하는 실수

    • ❌ ~~The window was broke. / The book was wrote by him.~~ → ✓ was broken / was written — 被动语态用过去分词,不是过去式;不规则动词的第三列要背熟。
    • ❌ ~~It was happened last night.~~ → ✓ It happened last night. — happen、appear、die 这类不及物动词没有被动语态。
    • ❌ ~~My phone was stolen by someone.~~ → ✓ My phone was stolen. — by someone / by people 是废话,直接删掉。
    • 中文说"我出生在……"是主动,英语永远用被动:✓ I was born in Chengdu.
  • 8 Reported speech · ⁨인용화⁩
    8.1

    서술문의 간접인용

    English

Reported speech is used to report what someone said, without quotation marks. Common reporting verbs are said or told:

    • say is followed without the listener: He said (that) …
    • tell is followed with the listener: He told me (that) …

他He 说said (连词)that 他he (过去)was 累tired.

He said he was tired. (Original quote: "I am tired.")

Note that can be omitted: He said he was tired. The meaning remains the same.

    한국어
    직접인용 → 간접인용

间接引语 (reported speech) 用来转述别人说过的话,不用引号。常用 said 或 told:

    • say 后面不接听话人:He said (that) …
    • tell 后面要接听话人:He told me (that) …

他He 说said (连词)that 他he (过去)was 累tired.

    他说他累了。(原话:"I am tired.")

注意 that 可省略:He said he was tired. 意思一样。

    8.2

    시제 후이

    English

When reporting, if the reporting verb is in the past tense (said / told), the tense in the reported clause usually shifts back one step:

    • am / is → was; are → were; do / does → did.
    • will → would; can → could; present perfect / past simple → past perfect.

Direct Speech: "I will help you," she said.

    Indirect Speech:

她She 说said 她she 会would 帮help 我me.

She said she would help me. (will → would, I → she, you → me)

Pronouns and time expressions also change: I → he / she, now → then, today → that day, tomorrow → the next day.

Note If reporting a general truth, tenses need not shift: He said the sun rises in the east.

    Common Errors

    • ❌ ~~He said me the truth.~~ / ~~He told that he was busy.~~ → ✓ He told me… / He said (that)… — say does not take a listener, tell must take a listener; this is the opposite of common mistakes.
    • ❌ ~~He asked me where did I live.~~ → ✓ He asked me where I lived. — Reported questions must change to statement word order, removing did.
    • ❌ ~~She asked me that I was hungry.~~ → ✓ She asked me if / whether I was hungry. — Report yes/no questions using if / whether, not that.
    • ❌ ~~He said he will come tomorrow.~~ → ✓ He said he would come the next day. — Tenses and time expressions must shift together.
    한국어

    转述时,如果引述动词是过去时(said / told),从句的时态通常往后退一步:

    • am / is → was;are → were;do / does → did。
    • will → would;can → could;现在完成 / 一般过去 → 过去完成。

直接引语:"I will help you," she said.(原话)

    간접인용:

她She 说said 她she 会would 帮help 我me.

    她说她会帮我。(will → would,I → she,you → me)

    人称和时间词也要变: I → he / she,now → then,today → that day,tomorrow → the next day。

注意 如果转述的是普遍真理,时态可以不后移:He said the sun rises in the east.

    자주 하는 실수

    • ❌ ~~He said me the truth.~~ / ~~He told that he was busy.~~ → ✓ He told me… / He said (that)… — say 不接听话人,tell 必须接听话人,正好相反。
    • ❌ ~~He asked me where did I live.~~ → ✓ He asked me where I lived. — 转述疑问句要变回陈述语序,did 消失。
    • ❌ ~~She asked me that I was hungry.~~ → ✓ She asked me if / whether I was hungry. — 转述一般疑问句用 if / whether,不用 that。
    • ❌ ~~He said he will come tomorrow.~~ → ✓ He said he would come the next day. — 时态和时间词要一起后移。

    who 与 which / that

    English

Relative clauses provide additional information about a preceding noun. They are introduced by relative pronouns:

    • who: refers to people.
    • which: refers to things.
    • that: refers to either people or things (common in informal speech).

(冠词)The 女人woman (关系代词)who 住lives 隔壁next door 是is 一名a 医生doctor.

The woman living next door is a doctor.

这This 是is (冠词)the 书book (关系代词)which 获得won (冠词)the 奖prize.

    That is the award-winning book.

Note Relative pronouns go immediately after the noun they refer to, introducing supplementary information.

    한국어

    • which:指物。
    • that:人或物都可以(口语常用)。

(冠词)The 女人woman (关系代词)who 住lives 隔壁next door 是is 一名a 医生doctor.

    옆에 사는 여자는 의사입니다.

这This 是is (冠词)the 书book (关系代词)which 获得won (冠词)the 奖prize.

    이것이 수상작입니다.

    9.2

    where, when, whose

    English
    • where: refers to place. when: refers to time. whose: indicates possession ("'s").

    那是That's (冠词)the 镇town (在那里)where 我I 长大grew up.

That is the town where I grew up.

    她是She's (冠词)the 作家writer (谁的)whose 书books 我I 喜爱love.

She is the writer whose works I like.

Note whose is followed directly by a noun (whose books), indicating "that person's books".

    한국어
    • where:指地点。when:指时间。whose:表示所属("……的")。

    那是That's (冠词)the 镇town (在那里)where 我I 长大grew up.

    내가 자란 마을이 바로 저기です。

    她是She's (冠词)the 作家writer (谁的)whose 书books 我I 喜爱love.

그녀는 내가 좋아하는 작품을 쓴 작가입니다.

    注意 whose 后面直接跟名词(whose books),表示"那个人的书"。

    9.3

    관계대명사 생략

    English

When the relative pronoun acts as the object in the clause, it can be omitted (common in both speech and writing):

    (冠词)The 电影film 我们(that) we 看saw (是)was 很棒great.

The movie (that) we watched was great.

    How to decide:

    • If the relative pronoun is the subject (followed immediately by a verb) → cannot omit.
    • If the relative pronoun is the object (followed by "subject + verb") → can omit.

Note Must be retained when acting as subject: the man who called (cannot omit who).

    Common Errors

    • ❌ ~~The man which lives next door…~~ → ✓ The man who / that… — Do not use which for people.
    • ❌ ~~The book what I read…~~ → ✓ The book that / which I read… — English has no usage of what as a relative pronoun.
    • ❌ ~~This is the house which I live.~~ → ✓ …the house where I live / …the house which I live in. — When the clause lacks a preposition, either use where or supply the missing preposition.
    • ❌ ~~The friend who I met him yesterday…~~ → ✓ The friend who I met yesterday… — Since the relative pronoun already replaces the object, him / it cannot appear again in the clause.
    한국어

관계대명사가 절 내에서 목적어 역할을 할 때는 생략할 수 있습니다. (구어 및 문체 모두 흔함):

    (冠词)The 电影film 我们(that) we 看saw (是)was 很棒great.

    我们看的那部电影很棒。(that 可省略)

    판단 방법:

    • 관계대명사가 주어(뒤에 바로 동사가 올 때)→ 생략 불가.
    • 관계대명사가 목적어(뒤에 '주어 + 동사'가 올 때)→ 생략 가능.

    注意 作主语时必须保留:the man who called(不能省略 who)。

    자주 하는 실수

    • ❌ ~~The man which lives next door…~~ → ✓ The man who / that… — 指人不用 which。
    • ❌ ~~The book what I read…~~ → ✓ The book that / which I read… — 영어에서 what은 관계대명사로 쓰이지 않습니다.
    • ❌ ~~This is the house which I live.~~ → ✓ …the house where I live / …the house which I live in. — 관형절에 전치사가 빠지면 either where를 사용하거나 in을 다시 붙여야 합니다.
    • ❌ ~~The friend who I met him yesterday…~~ → ✓ The friend who I met yesterday… — 관계대명어가 이미 목적어를 대신하고 있으므로, 관형절 내에 him / it이 다시 등장할 수 없습니다.

Modal verbs can also express deduction. When you are very certain:

    • must: must be (definite positive deduction).
    • can't: can't be (definite negative deduction).

    她She 一定must 是be 累tired.

She must be very tired. (Very certain)

他He 不可能can't 是be 饿hungry 他; he 刚just 吃ate.

He can't be hungry; he just ate.

Note Use can't for negative deduction (impossible), not mustn't (which means "prohibited").

    한국어
    추측的情態動詞: 확신테 Level

情態動詞은 추측을 나타낼 때도 쓰입니다. 매우 확실할 때:

    • must: 반드시 ~일 것이다 (확실한 긍정적 추론).
    • can't: 절대 ~가 아닐 것이다 (확실한 부정적 추론).

    她She 一定must 是be 累tired.

그녀는 분명 피곤해 보인다. (매우 확실함)

他He 不可能can't 是be 饿hungry 他; he 刚just 吃ate.

그는 배고프지 않을 것이다. 방금 먹었으니까.

주의 부정적 추론을 나타낼 때는 can't(불가능)를 쓰고, mustn't(금지)는 사용하지 마십시오.

    10.2

    might, may, could(추측의 가능성)

    English

When you are not entirely sure, but only feel that something is possible:

    • might / may / could: possible, perhaps.

    (天气it)It 可能might 下雨rain 稍后later.

    It might rain later.

    他们They 可能may 在be (在)at 家home.

    They might be at home.

    Degree of Certainty Comparison:

    • Very certain: must (is) / can't (is not).
    • Uncertain: might / may / could (possible).

Note All these modal verbs are followed by the base form of the verb: might be, must be (not might is).

    Common Errors

    • ❌ ~~It can be John at the door.~~ → ✓ It could / might be John. — Use could / might for speculation about a specific instance; can only indicates "general possibility."
    • ❌ ~~He might not can come.~~ → ✓ He might not be able to come. — Two modal verbs cannot be used together; replace the second with be able to / have to.
    • ❌ ~~Maybe he be late. / It may be rain.~~ → ✓ Maybe he is late. / It may rain. — maybe is an adverb and follows normal sentence structure; may is a modal verb and is followed by the base form. Do not mix them up.
    • ❌ ~~She must is tired.~~ → ✓ She must be tired. — A modal verb is always followed by the base form of the verb.
    한국어

조금 불확실하고, possibility이 있을 뿐일 때:

    • might / may / could: 아마 ~일지도 모른다, ~일 수 있다.

    (天气it)It 可能might 下雨rain 稍后later.

    나중에 비가 올지도 모른다.

    他们They 可能may 在be (在)at 家home.

    그들은 집에 있을지도 모른다.

    확실성 비교표:

    • 불확실함: might / may / could(~일 수도 있음).

주의 이情态动词(조동사) 뒤에는 항상 원형 동사가 따라갑니다: might be, must be (might is X).

    자주 하는 실수

    • ❌ ~~It can be John at the door.~~ → ✓ It could / might be John. — 특정一次的(한 번의 상황)에 대한 추론에는 could / might를 쓰고, can은 일관된 가능성(일반적으로 ~일 수 있다)만 나타냅니다.
    • ❌ ~~He might not can come.~~ → ✓ He might not be able to come. — 두 개의 조동사를 나란히 쓸 수 없으므로, 두 번째는 be able to 또는 have to로 바꿉니다.
    • ❌ ~~Maybe he be late. / It may be rain.~~ → ✓ Maybe he is late. / It may rain. — maybe는 부사이므로 문장 구조가 그대로 유지되고, may는 조동사이므로 원형을 이어 붙입니다. 두 가지를 섞어서는 안 됩니다.
    • ❌ ~~She must is tired.~~ → ✓ She must be tired. — 조동사 뒤에는 항상 원형 동사가 오malıdır.

    我I 喜欢enjoy 阅读reading.

    我I 想want (不定式)to 学learn 英语English.

    他们They 决定decided (不定式)to 留下stay.

    They decided to stay.

Note Some verbs accept both forms with similar meanings: like, love, start, begin. I like swimming. = I like to swim.

    한국어

다른 일부 동사 뒤에는 부정사(to + 원형 동사)가 따라옵니다.常见的有: want, need, decide, hope, promise, learn, would like, plan 등.

    我I 想want (不定式)to 学learn 英语English.

    영어를 배우고 싶습니다.

    남자들은 머물기로 결정했습니다.

주의 어떤 동사는 두 가지 모두 가능하여 의미가 유사합니다: like, love, start, begin. I like swimming. = I like to swim.

    11.3

    전치사 뒤 -ing

    English

After a preposition (in, on, at, of, about, for, good at, interested in…), the verb must take the -ing form:

    她She's 擅长good at 画画drawing.

    She is good at painting.

    谢谢Thank you 因为for 帮助helping 我me.

    Thank you for helping me.

Note The base form of a verb never follows a preposition: ~~good at draw~~ ✗ → good at drawing ✓.

    Common Errors

    • ❌ ~~I enjoy to read.~~ / ~~I want reading.~~ → ✓ I enjoy reading. / I want to read. — Which verb takes which form is fixed; memorize the collocations, do not swap them.
    • Distinguish the two meanings of stop: He stopped smoking. (Quit smoking) vs. He stopped to smoke. (Stopped what he was doing to go smoke)— The meanings are completely different.
    • ❌ ~~I look forward to see you.~~ → ✓ I look forward to seeing you. — Here, to is a preposition and is followed by -ing.
    • ❌ ~~Swim is good exercise.~~ → ✓ Swimming is good exercise. — When a verb acts as the subject, use the -ing form.
    한국어

전치사(in, on, at, of, about, for, good at, interested in…) 뒤에서는 동사를 -ing 형태로 써야 합니다:

    她She's 擅长good at 画画drawing.

    그녀는 그림 그리기를 잘합니다.

    谢谢Thank you 因为for 帮助helping 我me.

    도와주셔서 감사합니다.

주의 전치사 뒤에는 절대 원형 동사를 쓸 수 없습니다: ~~good at draw~~ ✗ → good at drawing ✓.

    자주 하는 실수

    • ❌ ~~I enjoy to read.~~ / ~~I want reading.~~ → ✓ I enjoy reading. / I want to read. — 어떤 동사가 어떤 형태를 취하는지는 고정되어 있으므로, 어휘를 외우고互换하지 마십시오.
    • stop의 두 가지 의미를 구분하십시오: He stopped smoking.(흡연을 끊었다) vs He stopped to smoke.(손에 든 일을 멈추고 담배를 피우러 갔다) — 의미가 완전히 다릅니다.
    • ❌ ~~I look forward to see you.~~ → ✓ I look forward to seeing you. — 여기서의 to는 전치사이므로 뒤에 -ing을 이어 붙입니다.
    • ❌ ~~Swim is good exercise.~~ → ✓ Swimming is good exercise. — 동사가 주어로 나올 때는 -ing 형태를 사용해야 합니다.
  • 12 too, enough, so, such
    12.1

    too와 enough

    English

too and enough indicate degree, but their position and meaning differ:

    • too + adjective = "too..." (negative excess), placed before the adjective.
    • enough = "sufficient," placed after the adjective and before the noun.

    这This 咖啡coffee 是is 太too 烫hot.

    This coffee is too hot.

他He 不够isn't 大old 足够enough (不定式)to 开车drive.

He isn't old enough to drive.

Note enough comes after the adjective (old enough) but before the noun (enough money).

    한국어
    too와 enough

too와 enough은 정도를 나타내지만 위치와 의미가 다릅니다:

    • too + 형용사 = "너무 ~하다" (부정적인 과도함), 형용사 앞에 배치합니다.
    • enough = "충분하다", 형용사 뒤에, 명사 앞에 배치합니다.

    这This 咖啡coffee 是is 太too 烫hot.

    이 커피는 너무 뜨겁습니다.

他He 不够isn't 大old 足够enough (不定式)to 开车drive.

    아직 운전하기엔 어립니다.

주의 enough는 형용사 뒤(old enough)에 오지만, 명사 앞(enough money)에 옵니다.

    12.2

    so와 such

    English

so and such both mean "so / such," used to intensify the tone:

    • so + adjective / adverb: so hot, so quickly.
    • such + (a/an) + (adjective) + noun: such a hot day.

    (冠词)The 电影film (是)was 如此so 无聊boring.

    That movie was so boring.

(这)It 是was 如此such 一个a 好good 主意idea.

That was really such a good idea.

Note Follow so with an adjective (so good); follow such with a noun phrase (such a good idea).

    Common Errors

    • ❌ To praise "very happy" but say ~~I'm too happy!~~ → ✓ I'm so happy! — too carries a negative connotation ("excessively, to the point of being bad"); use so for praise and exclamation.
    • ❌ ~~The box is too much heavy.~~ → ✓ The box is much too heavy. — To intensify too, use much too; the word order is much first.
    • ❌ ~~The tea is too hot to drink it.~~ → ✓ The tea is too hot to drink. — In the too…to structure, the sentence subject serves as the object of drink, so do not write it.
    • ❌ ~~It was so a good idea.~~ → ✓ It was such a good idea. / The idea was so good. — If there is a noun, switch to such.
    한국어

so와 such은 모두 "이렇게 / 저렇게"를 의미하며, 어조를 강화하는 데 사용됩니다:

    • so + 형용사 / 부사: so hot, so quickly 등.
    • such + (a/an) + (형용사) + 명사: such a hot day 등.

    (冠词)The 电影film (是)was 如此so 无聊boring.

    그 영화는 너무 지루했습니다.

(这)It 是was 如此such 一个a 好good 主意idea.

    정말 좋은 아이디어입니다.

주의 so 뒤에는 형용사(so good), such 뒤에는 명사구(such a good idea)를 이어 붙입니다.

    자주 하는 실수

    • ❌ "너무 행복해"라고 칭찬하려다 ~~I'm too happy!~~ → ✓ I'm so happy! — too는 본질적으로 부정적 의미("너무나도 그래서 안 된다")를 내포하므로, 칭찬이나 감탄에는 so를 사용합니다.
    • ❌ ~~The box is too much heavy.~~ → ✓ The box is much too heavy. — too를 강조할 때는 much too를 쓰고, 어순은 much가 앞에 와야 합니다.
    • ❌ ~~The tea is too hot to drink it.~~ → ✓ The tea is too hot to drink. — too…to 구조에서 문장의 주어가 drink의 목적어가 되므로, 더 이상 it을 쓸 필요가 없습니다.
    • ❌ ~~It was so a good idea.~~ → ✓ It was such a good idea. / The idea was so good. — 명사가 포함되어 있으면 such로 바꾸어야 합니다.
