A friend guesses someone is either reading or sleeping. What does 他不是在睡觉,就是在看书。 communicate?

A friend guesses someone is either reading or sleeping. Close the examples. Say a Mandarin response, then write it in Chinese. Explain briefly in English what the lesson’s pattern adds. Compare with the model, then change one detail and try again.
