Two short children differ in height. What does 他比我更高。 communicate?
The other child is taller relative to the speaker. 更 can strengthen the comparison without proving that either child is tall against an adult standard. An ordinary 比 comparison uses 高, 更高 or 还高 rather than 比我很高.

Which word does not fit the ordinary comparison 他比我____高?
Use 他比我高、更高 or 还高. This is a rule for this ordinary comparison, not every possible sequence of 比 and 很.

Two short children differ in height. Close the examples. Say a Mandarin response, then write it in Chinese. Explain briefly in English what the lesson’s pattern adds. Compare with the model, then change one detail and try again.
